“We are stardust, we are golden We are billion-year old carbon And we got to get ourselves Back to the garden” -WOODSTOCK by Joni Mitchell
STARDUST is the title for our group art show, derived from the Joni Mitchell’s song, Woodstock. The focus of the show will be on the illusion of space, defined by the viewer and the art made with light. Additionally the focus is in the spark or seed in the garden that makes us childlike and imaginative. Featured artists include: The electrified abstract landscapes of Jason Boyd. Utilizing a timed light sequence inside the canvas frame that tells the story of time. Metal sculptor, Glen Mayo who effortlessly weaves metal into celestial atomic spheres. The whimsical and delicate copper circuitry on translucent resin cloth tapestries created by Kathleen Anderson, who demonstrates her ability to harness energy through her use of metal and sound waves. The mesmerizing intricate line patterns and colorful grids, drafted by Morgan McMahon’s black light reactive gel pens. Her works appear to float and challenge depth perception. Additionally Scott Yurko and Scott Frost are joining the group with their mixed media painting featuring neon. Last but not least, Derek Stenborg’s glowing blue Moon constructed from recycled materials, that interacts with digitally created visual and audio wave forms. A special lighting design by Jason Boyd will provide continuity between artists and transform Reservoir Studio of Ellenville into an immersive stardust experience.
