Kathleen Anderson
Artist
Kathleen Anderson’s work encompasses drawing, sculpture, sound, bodywork and earth tuning. She explores the language of abstraction as a means of distilling the intersections of art, energy healing, percussive patterns and sound into a visual investigation of the body's rhythms and alignment. Drawing from a range of sources, the physio-philosophy of Jin Shin Jyutsu, Candomble drumming, neural pathways, meridian points, circuitry, pulses, particles, networks, Anderson explores materials for its conductive and therapeutic qualities. Her work in copper and fiberglass examines its unique properties of ‘focusing light in unseen ways.’
Her project, Tuning Score for the Nervous System, has generated collaboration with musicians creating new sound compositions in multiple settings including galleries, recording studios and private homes.
Her work has been exhibited at numerous venues including the Bronx Museum of Art, Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Oberlin College, Brown University and Dorsky Museum at SUNY, New Paltz.
